a preview of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider convertible at the Geneva Motor
Show, the car has been spied in road testing. It's currently scheduled
for a 2015 release.
The version of the car that's been seen uses a lightweight, rigid and removable fabric panel for the roof, shown for the first time. This move is expected to keep the overall weight of the Spider down, and as close to the Coupé version's 895kg as possible.
More changes to the design of the car are anticipated to encompass a titanium and carbon Akrapovic exhaust, enabling owners to choose the volume from the growling engine. The power system itself remains unchanged from the Coupé: a 1.75-litre turbocharged engine delivering an impressive 237bhp. Acceleration and the top speed are widely expected to be identical, with a 0-60mph time within four seconds and a 155mph peak.
Both the Alfa Romeo 4C Coupe and Spider should launch in a limited global production run, with roughly 3,500 Spiders to be built.
