Building on the all new Audi A4, Audi have now unveiled the first look at the Audi S4 and S4 Avant. Fitted with a new 354PS turbocharged V6 TFSI engine, the S4 and S4 Avant's 500Nm of torque is available from 1,300 to 4,500rpm and it can achieve acceleration from 0 to 62mph is 4.7 seconds. Lighter and more efficient that its predecessor, returning 38.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 170g/km, the S4 also features fuel saving technology such as the new eight speed tiptronic transmission which has a freewheeling mode.
Taking advantage of electromechanical steering and a newly developed five-link suspension, the S4 and S4 Avant offers high performance on all terrains with variable speed-dependent dynamic steering as an option. The latest quattro system has the ability to distribute up to 70% of power to the front axle or up to 85% to the rear to ensure that power is directed exectly where you need it. The S4 also features wheel-selective torque control foy dynamic cornering so that the wheels on the inside of the bend are braked slightly before they can break traction.
The all-new S4 is subtly undertstated featuring finely-graduated matt grey tones, chrome trimming and trademark S-model aluminium look mirror housings. The body is extremely light, weighing 1,630kg (1,675kg on the Avant), while still remaining rigid and safe.
Inside, the S4 Avant provides between 505 and 1,510 litres of luggage space with the Saloon also able to accommodate 480 litres. The latest in Audi technology is made available to the driver, including the impressive Audi virtual cockpit, MMI navigation plus and Audi connect which provides a high-speed internet connection.
Driver assistant features ensure each drive is comfortable and enjoyable such as adaptive cruise control Stop&Go including traffic jam assist which has the ability to take over acceleration, deceleration and steering at up to 40mph. Safety is of top priority and the S4 features park assist, cross traffic rear assist, exit warning, collision avoidance and the Audi pre sense systems.
