The Q line-up is due to expand within the next two years with the introduction of the Audi Q8 and the Audi Q4.
Production of the Q8 will start in Bratislava, Slovakia, in 2018 while the Audi Q4 will be produced in Győr, Hungary in 2019.
Prof. Dr. Hubert Waltl, Audi's Board of Management Member for Production and Logistics, stated “We will integrate two completely new Q‑models into the existing production network and will thus increase our competitiveness in an extremely important segment.”
The new Audi Q8 opens up a new segment with a premium SUV in a coupe style. The new model combines spaciousness with emotive design and features the latest technology in driver assistance and infotainment systems. The Slovakian plant, which is due to start production of the Q8 in 2018, has been producing the Audi Q7 since 2005. The second generation of the Q7, the Audi SQ7, is also in production there along with the Q7 e-tron plug-in hybrid.
The Audi Q4 will begin production in 2019 at Audi Hungaria in Győr. This model will see Audi enter a new segment, compact utility vehicles (CUVs) The sporty Q4 features a typical coupe-like silhouette and will position itself in the line-up between the Audi Q3 and the Audi Q5. Audi Hungaria will also be responsible for the production of the Audi Q3 from next year, moving production from Martorell in Spain.
