Displays and Infotainment

It allows the driver to switch between two views, with the instrument clusters appearing as large as the usual analogue displays or alternatively with a dominating central window that give more space to the navigation map or shows lists for the telephone, radio and audio.

The new menu structure in the MMI system is based on smartphones and controlled by a round rotary/push-button control in the centre of the MMI terminal. An optional touch sensitive touch-pad allows you to enter characters or gesture using your fingers. MMI radio plus with an electrically extendede 7-inch diagonal monitor is featured as standard while MMI navigation (standard on SE Technik and above) and MMI navigation plus with MMI touch bring many online functions into the car.

The new entry level 1.0 TFSI creates the first ever three-cylinder A3 variant and offers 115PS and 200Nm of torque at 2,000 to 3,500rpm. Although this engine is efficient, it doesn't sacrifice anything in terms of driving pleasure. The entry level diesel engine comes in the form of the 1.6TDI with 110PS and is available in combination with the six-speed manual transmission or the S tronic seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

The 1.4 TFSI COD features cylinder-on-demand efficiency technology that can switch off two cylinders when the corresponding output is not required. and offers 150PS and 250Nm of torque. The popular 2.0 TDI engine will be available with 150PS and 340 Nm (250.8 lb-ft) at 1,750 to 3,000rpm – and slightly later with 184PS and 380 Nm (280.3 lb-ft) at 1,750 to 3,000rpm.A technical highlight is the completely new 2.0 TFSI with its innovative combustion process.
