One of the all time greats of the large saloon sector, the Jaguar XJ Series is a seriously smooth customer with comfort, technology and refinement in abundance.
Step inside the luxurious cabin of an Jagauar XJ Series and its beauty, sophistication and glamour is obvious. Dig a little deeper and the revolutionary aluminium construction, exhilarating performance and power and it makes a seriously tempting proposition.
The XJ is styled to perfection with bold upper and lower mesh grilles and sculpted bonnet on the outside and creamily soft leather upholstery and wood panelling on the inside. There's lots of leg and headroom inside the cabin. Opt for the long wheelbase model and you add an extra metre of legroom to really stretch out. All variants come with air springs and computerised damping with sport and comfort settings. It feels sportier than you'd expect, however the XJ is still one of the best riding cars in its class, perfect for long journeys. The steering is topnotch, with remarkable handling and agility plus electronic traction, cornering and breaking aids.
Top of the range is the 4.2 litre supercharged V8 engine, which can go from 0 - 60 in just 5 seconds. It's seriously fast. However the smaller units do an outstanding job too, thanks to the XF's lightweight aluminium body; the 3.0 litre 240bhp and 2.7 litre V6 diesel give similar performance, but the diesel gives better fuel economy and is impeccably smooth, quiet and pacy, and with C02 emissions of 209g/km it's also the cleanest.
Jaguar believe in kitting out every model with the latest features and gadgets. As standard on the Jaguar XJ you can expect climate control, CD autochanger and rear parking sensors. At the top of the tree there's a snazzy voice activated Sat nav system thrown in - an optional extra with every other model.
