The exterior is beautifully sculpted with sleek lines and a sporty stance. Once you're inside the cabin it's wonderfully luxurious and refined with very little engine or wind noise, even at high speeds. The Scirocco combines genuine driving excitement with stability, gripping the road securely on corners without losing its sense of playfulness. You can even choose your preferred suspension setting depending on the drive. The Volkswagen Scirocco is excellent at high speed, precise and well heeled and fills you with confidence whenever you put your foot down. The cockpit includes a snazzy touch screen control panel for the stereo and the design conscious switches and dials are a million miles from clunky. Interior space is sound; the Scirocco can easily swallow four adults and their baggage fits easily into the 292 litre boot.

Three engines are currently on offer starting with a 1.4 litre 160PS petrol unit. It may be the most compact engine in the range, but it punches well above its weight with a top speed of 135mph and a 0 - 62mph timing of 8 seconds. The other choice is a pair of 2.0 litre engines; a 140PS diesel or a 200PS petrol. The diesel has a lively 320NM of torque available at just 1750rpm while emitting just 134g/km of CO2, while the petrol maxes at 145mph and does the 0 - 62mph sprint in just 7 seconds.

The Volkswagen Scirocco is well catered for in terms of safety provisions. There's front, side and curtain airbags and electronic stability control included as standard. Volkswagen has even included intelligent front head restraints to minimise injury should the worse actually happen. Equipment levels are also of a high standard, and every Volkswagen Scirocco comes with electric windows and mirrors, CD player, dual zone climate control and a soft touch leather steering wheel.
