New Chevrolet Captiva

Combining the adaptability of an SUV and the practicality of a family car the new Chevrolet Captiva ticks all the boxes. Available with 5 or 7 seats, the Chevrolet Captiva offers a huge amount of cabin space, ample room for luggage and a whole host of handy storage solutions. Soft suspension makes the Chevrolet Captiva a great long distance cruiser, whilst electronically controlled four-wheel drive is perfect for off-road adventures.
The entry level Chevrolet Captiva is the LS 2.2 VCDi with five seats and front wheel drive. With a power output of 163 PS, it benefits from a six-speed manual gearbox and comes with 17-inch alloy wheels as standard. The diesel engine is turbocharged and is configured to keep CO2 emissions as low as possible, thus reducing the road tax payable. For this version, CO2 emissions are 170 g/km and the average fuel consumption is a healthy 44.1 mpg.
Moving up a version is the LT 2.2 VCDi, featuring seven seats and all-wheel-drive. The vehicle comes with a choice of a six-speed automatic transmission or the same but with a manual mode. The engine puts out the power of 184 PS, and the purely automatic transmission gives an average fuel consumption of 42.8 mpg, its manual sibling coming in at 36.6 mpg. Carbon emissions for the automatic are 174 g/km and 203 g/km for the dual mode transmission.
At the top of the range comes another seven-seater, the LTZ 2.2 VCDi that has the same power output as the LT and the same choice of transmission. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are also exactly the same but the LTZ also includes as standard 19 inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, satellite navigation and a rear parking camera.
Driving Safety
Safety is a priority for the Chevrolet Captiva and to begin with, there are six airbags. The driver and front passenger have dual front and side airbags and there are curtain airbags for the rear passengers sitting on the outside. For the front seats, there are three-point seatbelts, both with belt force limiters and belt tensioners. In the back are Isofix anchor points; these are fitted to the second row outer seats and make fitting child seats a quick and secure process.
A traction control system is standard as is electronic stability control to get rid of over and under steering and for emergencies, there is a brake assist system. Anyone who has ever suffered from the dreaded hill start problem will be reassured that the Chevrolet Captiva has hill start assist to prevent those awkward moments when the car can roll back if the perfect clutch/handbrake control is lacking.
