The new Citroen C3 Picasso comes with a choice of engines, with petrol and diesel versions available. The largest is the diesel 2.0-litre HDi 150 that comes with the top-level Exclusive model. The C3 Picasso is a stylish MPV, with plenty of space for both people and/or baggage, the 2.0-litre engine gets an impressive 47.9 mpg on average, and a full tank of fuel gives it a range of 570 miles. The car can accelerate from 0-60 in just 9.9 seconds and is able to reach 121 mph as its top speed.
There is also a 2.0-litre engine available for the HDi 150 VTR+ model that has a slightly higher average mpg of 49.2, giving it a fully fuelled range of 590 miles. Top speed and acceleration are the same as the Exclusive.
A smaller 1.6-litre diesel engine powers several of the other models, and that includes a turbo high-pressure (THP) 155 bhp as a choice for an Exclusive model. The engine is surprisingly economical for its size, averaging 40.9 mpg and delivering an impressive tank range of 540 miles. The top speed comes in at 127 mph and acceleration is 9.4 seconds from 0-60 mph.
The lowest range model for the 1.6-litre diesel is the HDi 110 VTR, but the additional expense of a diesel over petrol engine can be set against a very economical version that has 54.3 mpg as its average and a money-saving 646 miles from a full tank.
Petrol engines for the entry level Citroen C3 Picasso are 1.6-litre, and the VTi 120 VTR is capable of reaching 116 mph, though acceleration is a little slower than the previous models at 12.1 seconds from 0-60 mph.
Relaxed driving is what the Citroen C3 Picasso delivers, with a strong outer shell and a number of key interior safety features. Many of these come as standard, but there are opportunities to have additional ones with the more expensive models. Standard features include a number of airbags, including one for the driver and front passenger as well as a curtain airbag, and further protection is given through side impact bars.
Isofix points ensure that all passengers can be securely belted in and for more secure driving safety, there is an electronic stability program, an anti-lock braking system and traction control.
For comfort, expect as standard cruise control and air conditioning together with electric front windows and electric and heated mirrors. There is plenty of room to fit five passengers in the spacious interior, and seats at the back can easily be folded to make additional carrying spac
