Citroën confirms DS cars to split from main range

Following rumours, speculations and hints from Citroën, it is confirmed that the DS range of cars will become a separate stand-alone model line.

Customers at Citroën dealerships can currently select the DS3 and Cabrio, DS4 and DS5. These, and any other future DS cars, will stand apart from Citroën vehicles sold in the UK and Europe. This is already the case in markets such as China. Citroën has indicated that initially DS models will still be sold from brand dealerships, with the potential for new showrooms to be built over the coming years.

New positioning and a more premium approach for the DS range will further differentiate it. The interior finishes, trims and equipment are all expected to be substantially upgraded. Citroën vehicles will hold onto their practical, reliable and affordable reputation.

One of the first indications of the changes to DS cars has been with the introduction of the Divine DS concept. It bears no Citroën badging – the trademark DS shape is the only evidence of the manufacturer's involvement. Visitors to the Paris Motor Show in October will exclusively see more of the concept.
