Motorists can now place their orders for the new Citroën Relay, the
largest commercial vehicle in the manufacturer's range. First deliveries
are expected in July 2014, and buyers have a great deal of choice when
it comes to selecting a shape that meets their needs.
The new line-up includes panel vans, chassis cabs, chassis crew cabs, tippers and drop sides. Load area volume starts at 8,000 litres in the L1H1 and goes up to 17,000 litres with the L4H3, while payload capacities range from 1.115 tonnes to 1.9 tonnes.
Each Relay comes fitted with a 2.2-litre diesel engine, which Citroën offers in power outputs of 108bhp, 128bhp and 148bhp – with start/stop technology on the e-HDi 130 option. As expected the smallest H1L1 boasts the lowest running costs, and with the entry-level 110 engine it is capable of a satisfying 41.5mpg, rising to 42.8mpg with start/stop integrated. CO 2 emissions are also pleasingly low at 175g/km.
Lifting the Relay above the likes of the Ford Transit and Volkswagen Sprinter is the load bay width, which is among the most generous in the class. The space is 1.87 metres between the partitions, and 1.42 metres between the inner wheel arches. A Europallet can be comfortably slotted in flat, and can also be loaded through the 1.25m-wide side door.
In the cabin, the quality has been ramped up further to add greater comfort and practicality, with the specification list also growing. Sat nav, reversing camera, lane departure warning and tyre pressure sensors can be added if required.
