Ford Edge to see release in Europe
25th June 2014
Ford has revealed more details on its upcoming Edge SUV. The model has already been a success within Russia and Asia, and will go on sale in the UK during 2015.
The Ford Edge is part of the 'One Ford' product plan, which aims to make the full range of models available worldwide. Ford has stated that they expect the SUV market to grow by 26 percent by 2018, and that the Ford Edge will give them an advantage in European sales.
Slim LED headlights are fitted at the front and rear, the latter of which cover the tailgate area. The Edge stands tall on 20-inch alloy wheels, and has a higher overall vehicle mass than any of the current Ford vehicles on sale within Europe – generating a robust atmosphere.
A rearranged and premium-styled cabin within includes the newest technology from Ford, including the SYNC 2 infotainment system controlled by an eight-inch touchscreen panel. The vehicle will also arrive with Active Noise Cancellation and Advanced Active Park Assist, an 180-degree front-mounted camera and inflatable seatbelts for intelligent passenger protection.
Three trim levels will be available: the Trend, the Sport, and the Titanium. There will be a choice between two 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engines with either 177bhp or 207bhp, and in any version the Edge is confident and enthusiastic. Both engines are expected to power the Edge forward in four-wheel drive, and to produce carbon emissions of only either 149g/km or 159g/km.
