The Ford Edge SUV is expected during 2015, and the manufacturer has reassured excited motorists with news that developments are progressing as planned.
A first look at the new vehicle was with a concept version presented during the LA Motor Show in November 2013. It's the first time that the Edge is being made available in the UK – the model already enjoys considerable success in America.
The model's debut here is part of a 'three-pronged' attack on the European SUV market. The Edge will join the new EcoSport and Kuga within the Ford line-up to bring motorists even more choice.
It stands out with a large, 'multi-barred' grille and strong front bumper. The windscreen is stylishly raked for a sportier atmosphere, and while much of the vehicle is yet to be revealed typically high Ford customisation levels are anticipated.
The interior is expected to demonstrate a premium feel, something which should hold particular appeal to business motorists. The Edge concept showcased full leather upholstery and a ten-inch touchscreen display with infotainment, and this arrangement is likely to remain.
Details on the engine selection and potential performance of the model have yet to be confirmed. It is known that the Edge will arrive packed with forward-thinking safety measures and driver assistances, including adaptive cruise control, collision prevention and an autonomous parking aid.
