Official figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) revealed that Ford has reached record sales for new cars for the month of September. The figures show Ford's September car sales were up 54,322, up 6.3 per cent compared with September 2013, total car sales for Ford this year have reached a mammoth 262,754, up from 249,017 last year.
The results showed that the best-selling car this year has been the Ford Fiesta with the Ford Focus coming in 2nd position; the popular Fiesta has now hit an impressive total of 106,930 cars sold for the year to date. Ford also scored well with the B-MAX, C-MAX, Kuga and Galaxy all being placed in the top three in their respective market segments.
Mark Ovenden, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director, said of the latest figures "Fiesta and Focus are at the core of this achievement and our extended Ford CV family, which now has full availability, is selling better than ever, while the constant stream of new model introductions, including EcoSport, Focus and Mondeo, with Mustang and Edge to come, is adding to Ford's stronger, and broader, brand presence.
"Delivering this success relies on our dealer partners, who make up the strongest network in the UK and are themselves investing to transform their businesses in parallel with the ongoing product investment by Ford."
Ford have now managed to sustain top position as the UK's best-selling car brand since 1999, the Focus was the UK's best-selling car for ten nearly ten years before the Fiesta took top place in 2009. The Fiesta which was first launched by the American car manufactures in 1977 has now become the UK's best-selling car of all time thanks to its style, practicality, and innovative technologies.
