Tests begin on new UK Ford Mustang
20th August 2014
Ford's upcoming sixth-generation Ford Mustang is due to reach the UK market by the first quarter of 2015. In preparation for the vehicle's debut, work has recently been completed on a production prototype for the right-hand-drive version of the car.
The prototype is to be used in the process of development tests for the global regions in which the right-hand-drive model is to be sold. Ford is planning on releasing the car on a global scale with more than 25 countries receiving the vehicle, including Australia and South Africa as well as the UK. The USA remains the largest market for Mustang vehicles, with over 9.2 million having been sold since the Mustang's 1964 release date, but it has steadily attracted worldwide interest. Over 161,000 Mustang vehicles have been sold outside of the USA in the car's lifetime, and the new Mustang already has 9,300 customers who have registered interest in the European version.
The European Ford Mustang will offer a choice of two engine types when it becomes available. A traditional 5.0-litre V8 engine which gives 420bhp will be available, or motorists can choose the newly-developed 305bhp 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine from Ford.
