In advance of the official debut of the new Ford S-MAX at October's Paris Motor Show, the vehicle has entered the final stage of road testing. Europe is one of the key markets for the people carrier, with many motorists choosing higher equipment grades and the more potent engines within the range.
This version of the model is the second generation, bringing more premium trim levels and options to the S-MAX. A special 'super-luxury' Vignale option is expected to join the range next year. It remains one of the most stylish and reliable seven-seater vehicles, with the new Ford front face and more muscular shoulders.
Exterior design features have remained largely unchanged from the concept MPV shown during 2013. A distinctive window glass shape retains the originality and charm of the S-MAX. The model stands on a C/D platform, which is also the architecture underpinning the new Mondeo and Fusion.
The S-MAX will be offered with Ford's advanced 1.6-litre Ecoboost petrol engine alongside a selection of powerful, efficient petrol and diesel units.
For the following Vignale version, quilted leather seats, new aluminium interior trims and a fully leather-covered dashboard are expected. The cabin will also feature integrated docking stations for tablets.
Ford has tentatively scheduled a release for the new S-MAX in 'late spring 2015'. Contact Lookers Ford to register your interest – we have authorised dealerships throughout the UK.
