The shape of things to come?
The keenly anticipated Hyundai IONIQ is due to be launched in Korea later this month. Deriving its name from an amalgamation of "ion" and "unique," Hyundai’s new offering gives us a glimpse of the future. With a shape largely dictated by aerodynamic requirements, this popular manufacturer has designed an innovative alternative-fuel compact vehicle, now available for pre-order in selected markets.
Not only is the design ground-breaking, so too is the technology. This is the first-ever car to offer a choice of three efficient and ultra-low emission powertrain options in one body type.
The exterior of the IONIQ offers a coupe-like silhouette and at the front of the car, familiar Hyundai design themes are evident - notably the signature hexagonal grille – as striking blue and white colours blend with the headlights to visually depict the purity of the IONIQ as an eco-friendly car.
Delivering on its eco-friendly credentials, advanced powertrain technology (central to Hyundai Motor’s aim for the world’s best hybrid fuel-efficiency) packs a punch. The newly-developed platform also delivers a responsive and fun driving experience to match the appeal of the car’s eye-catching lines.
Inside the IONIQ its futuristic perspective draws on the car’s hybrid credentials. The smooth, elegant design maximises efficient use of interior space providing a sleek and light feel, which continues through the logical layout of control functions. Eco-friendly materials have been used with a light touch which also manage to achieve a futuristic yet usable cabin.
The INOIX is perfect for those looking to reduce their impact on the environment while enjoying outstanding fuel efficiency, performance and style.
After its world premiere in Korea later this month the IONIQ will be on display at the Geneva International Motor Show and then the New York Auto Show in March 2016.
