We saw the all new F-PACE in action last week as it supported team Sky to the finish line at the Tour de France final in Paris. Now the team at Jaguar have tested the crossover in extreme conditions to show how well it performs over different terrains. The team took the F-PACE to their testing facility in Arjeplog, Northern Sweden, where temperatures can range from -15°C to -40°C. The F-PACE was then taken over the purpose built track which has mountain climbs, inclines, split-friction straights and off-road areas. The track is ideal for optimising the calibration of the all-wheel drive system, Dynamic Stability Control and Jaguar's revolutionary All-Surface Progress Control. This test showed that the F-PACE delivers connected steering whether on ice, asphalt or snow.
The F-PACE was then transferred to the searing temperatures in Dubai where it was tested to see how if fared in the heat. The temperatures in Dubai can reach a sweltering 50°C in the shade, making cabin temperatures rise to an unbearable 70°C. This environment gave the Jaguar team the chance to see if the F- PACE’s climate control and infotainment systems still worked in the heat and humidity which they did.
The programme was the first time that Jaguar has used such a uniquely challenging environment, along with the freezing cold and searing heat, the F- PACE was also driven over gravelled mountain passes. The tests and their attention to detail will help make the F- PACE a benchmark in its crossover segment.
Andrew Whyman, the Vehicle Programme Director for the Jaguar F-Pace said of the demanding testing programme: “ We developed the F-PACE to offer the ride, handling and refinement demanded from a Jaguar, together with exceptional levels of ability and composure on all surfaces and in all weathers. “Just as we paid obsessive attention to detail over the engineering of every single component, we've exhaustively tested the F-PACE in the most challenging conditions to ensure that it will exceed the expectations of our customers around the world."
