As a proud sponsor of the
Cardiff Blues for the forthcoming season, we thought we should share an update from our favourite team.
The countdown to the new rugby union season is gathering pace and the Cardiff Blues squad is back in training.
As well as recruiting some foreign stars in Jarrad Hoeata (Highlanders) and Manoa Vosawai (Treviso), the Blues have also welcomed home some great Welsh talent in Craig Mitchell (Exeter), George Watkins (Bristol) and Tavis Knoyle (Gloucester). Other notable arrivals include Josh Turnbull (Scarlets) and Ieuan Jones (Dragons) who join from other Welsh regions.
However, the biggest signing of the summer is that of Mark Hammett as new Director of Rugby at Cardiff Blues. Mark, a former New Zealand international and Head Coach of the Hurricanes in the Super 15, brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, passion and talent to the Blues. He is determined to bring success to the region and I am sure you will be impressed by him when you get to see him this season.
As part of preparations for the new domestic and European season, the Cardiff Blues will compete against the other three regions in the first leg of the Premiership Rugby 7s Series at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday, July 26th. Two of the regions will qualify for the Series Final at the Twickenham Stoop on Friday, August 8th and the chance to play in the World Club 7s at Twickenham on the weekend of Saturday, August 16th and Sunday, August 17th.
The Blues also have two confirmed friendly games arranged against the very best of English opposition. The first is at home against Exeter Chiefs on Friday, August 15th and then Leicester Tigers away at Welford Road on Friday, August 29th.
