Prior to a scheduled official unveiling during August 2014, the upcoming Kia Sorento has been previewed in special concept sketches.
The model will enter its third generation, and has been designed by Kia teams in the US, Germany and South Korea. In Europe, the Sorento will be positioned as a direct rival to the Mitsubishi Outlander and the Nissan X-Trail. It’s a favoured choice with UK drivers, with more than 2,300 Sorento models registered during 2013.
Kia’s "bold, swept-back exterior styling" for the new model will include the trademark ‘tiger-nose’ front grille and more recently-introduced design points from the rest of the range. The sketches reveal a unique wheel design, stronger stance and sweeping low roof line – and the subtly extended wheelbase will generate more interior space.
The engine range is as yet unconfirmed, as is much of the equipment and specification list. It has, however, been suggested that a hybrid version of the Sorento could be in the pipeline to debut shortly after the traditionally-powered car.
A UK launch for the third-generation Kia Sorento is tentatively predicted for early 2015.
