The Land Rover Story - Heritage
It was in 1948 that the first Land Rover debuted. Designed with the virtues of versatility, simplicity, strength and durability in mind, its ingenious construction has stood the test of time.
Capable of tackling the toughest terrains around, the 1950s and 1960s saw refinement of the design, taking Land Rover to the forefront of the four-wheel drive vehicle market. Organisations around the world would begin to rely on Land Rover for their all-terrain needs, with notable users including the Born Free Foundation, The Royal Geographical Society and Biosphere Expeditions.
In the 1970s, Land Rover’s forward-thinking philosophy saw development of the Range Rover product range, combining the agility of the traditional Land Rover with the comfort and performance of a road car.
Land Rover’s innovation didn’t stop there. New Land Rover and Range Rover models have hit the roads with regularity, with the latest models featuring ever-greater levels of refinement, technology and efficiency. Initiatives such as e_Terrain Technologies, Sustainable Manufacturing and CO2 Offsetting are at the forefront of modern designs, taking the company forward as it continues to produce its class-leading vehicle range.
