Land Rover is synonymous with sturdy, hard working vehicles, and has now become associated with superbly stylish cars that are strikingly attractive and have a sleek, sporty feel to them. The Range Rover Evoque is a new adventure for the manufacturer, a five-door car delivering style with performance and Land Rover’s commitment to detail and comfort.

Versions

Range Rovers are not usually noted for their fuel economy and emissions, which makes the Evoque Pure eD4 2.2-litre diesel with two wheel drive a real turn up for the books. The engine produces 150 bhp and it has been engineered to make its performance quieter and more refined. With a combined mpg of 56.5 and low CO2 emissions of 133 g/km, this may look like a big beast of a machine but it delivers serious economy and environmental benefit. The Pure comes also in a TD4 and SD4 manual version, and the SD4 automatic. These three are all four-wheel-drive.

Move up a notch to the Evoque Prestige and there are many more options to choose from. The engines are the same as for the Pure, so again, the economic and environmental pluses are all there, but the luxury add-ons are at the top of the scale. The exterior is enhanced with special alloy wheels and there is a bright, premium finish. The interior is wrapped in leather and roofs can be colour contrasted or a panoramic sunroof can be added to the configuration.

The Evoque Coupé Dynamic is the sporty version of this Range Rover, with a sleek yet muscular look and an eye-catching exterior featuring uniquely designed sills, bumpers, grille and tailpipes. The interior is premium sports, incorporating leather seats and individualistic detailing. All the coupés are four-wheel drive, with two of the three versions having the economical 2.2-litre diesel engine, the SD4 Manual and SD4 Automatic producing power outputs of 190 bhp, both with six-speed transmissions. The SiD Automatic has a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 240 bhp. The economy and emissions may not be as good as for the diesel engines but it makes for a powerful and sporty drive.

Safety

The Evoque utilises state-of-the-art safety technologies, both active and passive. The body safety cell is especially strong to withstand impacts and there are active electronic safety systems to ensure the safest possible drive. With advanced traction control and stability system, all types of driving conditions can be dealt with effectively.
