New Diesel Engine for the Defender 2012

The Defender 2012 will be having a replacement engine, instead of the current EU4 2.4 litre diesel, there will be a new EU5 2.2 litre diesel engine making the Defender more refined and giving a higher performance.   Even though the 2012 engine is smaller it does not mean that the power has been compromised, in fact it produces the same amount of power as the current engine but is a lot cleaner.  The EU5 comes with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) to give the lowest level emissions possible.

The Defender has been around since 1948 and has been known as rugged and the most versatile off road vehicle in the world.  Since the Defenders re-launch in 2007, there has been around 25,000 sold a year worldwide.  The Defender is used by all including the armed forces as it is seen as the best off-road vehicle.

The new diesel engine is not the only amendment; there will be a new engine cover which will reduce engine noise making the drive more refined.  There are also two new option packs, the Comfort Pack and the Off-Road Pack.  The Comfort Pack consists of air conditioning, CD player with auxiliary input, electric windows and central locking, which costs £1,650.  The Off-Road Pack includes ABS, heavy duty rim and MTR tyre, tow ball and under ride protection bar, all for the price of £1,500.
