Jaguar Land Rover Teach Students about Manufacturing
17th October 2011
Jaguar Land Rover are using their award winning educational programmes to teach children about the government’s ‘See Inside Manufacturing’ initiative. This involves giving children in the Midlands and Northwest a look into advanced engineering and manufacturing.
During October Jaguar Land Rover will give more than 120 year 10 and 11 pupils activities such as CAD CAM and safety test programmes, as well as advice on CV’s and interviews which will help them organize for the future. These workshops will commence at Jaguar Land Rover’s Educational Business Partnership Centres.
The initiative ‘See Inside Manufacturing’ is a joint venture between the UK’s leading manufacturers and the government, encouraging involvement of manufacturing and to challenge the idea of the industry including the myth of Britain not ‘making anything’.
Vince Cable, business Secretary commented, “We are determined to shake up old fashioned views of manufacturing. Through the Government's See Inside Manufacturing campaign and Jaguar Land Rover's national activities, we will give young people the chance to see the exciting face of modern manufacturing which is highly skilled, high tech and highly paid."
Jaguar Land Rover have invested a lot into community programmes and want the STEM (Science, technology, engineering and math’s) agenda to be a success as they were the first car manufacturer in the UK to be awarded the CommunityMark.
