Hybrid Cars
There are a variety of hybrid cars with two power sources; these are powered by petrol and diesel engines and an electric motor, which are grouped into categories, micro, mild and Full Hybrid.
Lexus pride themselves on using the most up to date hybrid technology on a number of hybrid cars. These models include the CT 200h which is the world’s first Full Hybrid luxury compact car, the RX 450h which delivers low emissions and has low fuel consumption. The GS 450h is another Full Hybrid model; this is a saloon which has a combination of a V6 petrol engine and a high output electric motor and lastly the LS 600h, the most powerful Full Hybrid luxury saloon.
There are myths about electric hybrid cars, such as being slow but this is not the case with Lexus hybrid cars as they contain powerful electric motors, which thrust the car until the petrol engine connects. When accelerating the power boosts as the electric motor assists the petrol engine.
Hybrid cars also produce significantly lower emissions than non-hybrid cars, as well as better fuel economy due to the fact that when the petrol engine is not being used, no fuel is being consumed. Also less fuel is being consumed when the petrol engine is working in combination with the electric motor.
