Mercedes-Benz Parts and Servicing FAQ's
We at Lookers Mercedes-Benz have Approved Mercedes-Benz service centres in the UK, providing you with various Mercedes-Benz service plans. If you cannot find the relevant information about the service you require take a look at our FAQ's below to see if they can be of any help.
1. Are all your Mercedes-Benz service centres approved manufacturer service centres?
Yes – All of our workshops are Mercedes-Benz Approved Official Workshops.
2. Do you only use genuine manufacturer parts, or do you also source and fit parts from other suppliers if we request it?
We only fit Genuine Mercedes-Benz Manufacturer parts that come with an unlimited mileage, 2-year manufacturer warranty. After Market Repairs such as Parking Sensors, Tracking Devices or Alarms can be sourced from reputable suppliers.
3. Is my car serviced on site at your dealership, or is it taken off-site and serviced elsewhere?
All servicing is carried out on site. We also now offer on-site smart repairs such as small dents and alloy wheel repairs.
4. Can I wait whilst my car gets serviced?
Yes – All of our Mercedes-Benz retailers have comfortable customer waiting areas with entertainment and refreshment facilities.
5. Do you provide a pick-up / drop off service facility, collecting my car from home or place of work if required?
Yes, we offer a choice of collection & delivery or a lift from the Mercedes-Benz retailer to a location of your choice.
6. If the service lasts a couple of days, do you provide me with a courtesy car?
Yes, subject to availability.
7. How much is the cost of your standard MOTs?
Please contact a member of our Mercedes-Benz Service Booking Team to discuss our current MOT rates.
8. Do you provide service plans to help me spread the cost of my scheduled servicing?
Yes – Mercedes-Benz Service Care Plans are available from less than £1 a day and offer an easy way to budget for all your servicing costs. Choose to pay a fixed monthly cost, from just £23 for an A-Class or £26 a month for a C-Class, or in one up-front payment. Service Care provides you with comprehensive cover for 2, 3 or 4 services and plans can be taken out on vehicles up to 7 years old. Mercedes-Benz Service Care is also available for AMG Models.
9. If my car fails its MOT originally will you re-test it for free?
Yes – we will re-test your Mercedes-Benz free of charge providing it is within the 10 day period from the date of failure.
10. Do you provide a valet service after the car itself has been serviced? (is there an extra cost for this? And different levels of valet service?)
Every vehicle that passes through our Official Workshop will receive a complimentary courtesy wash and vacuum. For a cost of £20.00 we will also carry out a ‘spruce and shine’ – in addition to the wash and vacuum the vehicle is coated in a soluble wax, the windows are cleaned inside and out and tyres are dressed. We also offer a full valet service at an approximate cost of £100, this normally takes around 4 to 5 hours depending on the size and condition of the vehicle as well as the type of trim (Cloth or Leather). For further details please don’t hesitate to contact your nearest Official Merecedes-Benz Workshop.
11. What is your general turnaround time for car servicing and MOTs?
Servicing and MOT’s are generally turned around within 24 hours when no further work or repairs are identified. Your personal appointed Mercedes-Benz service Team Manager will advise you of approximate time spans if further work is required.
12. Will you stamp the service book, or record it electronically? (can you provide us with a replacement service book, or re-print the service history if required?)
This depends on the vehicles age and type. Generally all new vehicles have a digital service booklet. In this instance the service record is recorded on a system at Mercedes-Benz UK. This system can be viewed by all Approved Mercedes-Benz retailers nationwide and will soon be accessible to Mercedes-Benz Owners. A copy of this record is given to all customers to keep in their book packs.
For all other vehicles, the service book is marked with an Approved Official Workshop stamp. Replacements booklets are available and can be completed by the servicing retailer.
On request we will print off previous service records providing they comply with data protection laws.
13. Do you provide an MOT reminder service? (How am I reminded? E.g. Letter, email, tel?)
Yes – A member of our Mercedes-Benz Service Booking Team will contact you 2- 4 weeks prior to your MOT due date. You will also be sent a reminder postcard and email provided your contact details are on our database.
14. Do you have a specific tyre inspection service?
Yes – all tyres are inspected by our technicians and our on-site tyre specialists and then recorded on our Vehicle Health Check Sheets.
15. Do you provide any Mercedes-Benz speciality services/parts only available through yourselves that are not available at regular service centres?
Yes – Certain vehicles have braking systems that can only be repaired with a Mercedes-Benz diagnostic kit. We also carry out a full four wheel alignment assessment, air conditioning repairs, safety recalls, service measures, control unit software updates and injector coding.
16. Do you do hourly servicing during lunchtimes?
Yes – However please ensure you make an appointment through our Mercedes-Benz Service Booking Team prior to arriving.
17. Are there facilities for children if I wait whilst my car is serviced and I have my children with me?
Yes – each of our Mercedes-Benz retailers have comfortable customer waiting areas with TV’s/Refreshment facilities and Children’s books/toys.
18. Will you call me before making chargeable changes to my car?
Yes of course – You will be assigned your own Mercedes-Benz Service Team Manager who will personally make contact with regards to all updates and charges.
19. Are you open early, i.e. 08:30 until late, i.e. 18:30 to provide me with the option to drop off and pick up my car before and after work?
Yes – we are open
20. Is there the facility for me to bring my car down the night before and then pick it up after work the day of the service?
Yes – Your car can be left overnight in our secure Mercedes-Benz car park. If you pass your keys to a member of our team they will be deposited into our safe.
21. Can I pay by credit card? What about cheque?
You can pay by credit card yes, unfortunately cheques are no longer accepted. Our Service Care Plans are a great way of budgeting for your Mercedes-Benz servicing costs and payments can be set up by Direct Debit.
