For maximum space without an inflated price tag, the New Kia Sedona makes sense whichever way you look at it.
The old Sedona wasn't the kind of car to make pulses race, more the saviour of stressed families who were willing to forgo fashion for something more affordable. Kia have returned to the drawing board and the new Kia Sedona has emerged in a much prettier guise than its predecessor with more space and practical features than ever before.
The experience
The cabin is now significantly bigger, creating much more room for passengers and making it much easier to manouevre. The middle and third row seats are on sliding runners and can recline, fold in half or be removed completely, upping the total possible cargo space from 364 to 1,753 litres. The overall finish has been improved and the attention to detail is good, much better than you would expect in a car with such a low starting price. The steering has been worked on and the Sedona now handles much better than before, producing a comparable ride to more expensive cars in its class.
The performance
The big hitter in the range of engines is the 2.9 litre CRDi diesel unit. With more power at 185bhp, enhanced fuel economy of 36.2mpg and lower emissions at 206g/km, it's a clear progression from its predecessor. Also available is 185bhp 2.7 litre petrol engine with the GS trim.
The technology
For starters there's the Kia Sedona GS model, with air conditioning, front and rear electric windows and remote central locking. Mid range LS includes climate control, electric side doors and leather trims. For cruise control, alloys and headed seats you'll need to head to the top of the trim range and the TS version.
Models within this range: CEED, MAGENTIS, PICANTO, PRO CEED, RIO, SEDONA, SORENTO, SOUL, SPORTAGE, VENGA.
