When it comes to van based cars Volkswagen know their stuff, and treading in the footsteps of the acclaimed Camper Van and Transporter comes the Volkswagen Caravelle, an MPV with a true pedigree.
The Volkswagen Caravelle is more luxurious and comfortable than you could ever expect from a van based MPV. And what's even better is that it shakes off its parentage to feel every inch the family car, not a commercial vehicle.
The experience
The Caravelle is a brilliant motorway cruiser, smooth and relaxed with oodles of space to stretch out on longer journeys. And despite the sheer scale of this full sized seven seater, it's responsive and much more agile than you'd expect about town. Inside it's MPV space and practicality all the way. The steering can be adjusted for rake and reach so getting comfy behind the wheel should never be an issue and a panoramic windscreen gives great visibility. The layout can be flipped to suit your needs very easily and all seats can be slid, dropped, twisted or removed completely to give more cargo space.
The performance
The Caravelle is no small fry and Volkswagen has served up a range of powerful engines to suit. The range topper is a 3.2 litre V6 petrol unit developing a hefty 233bhp and plenty of pulling power. Diesel options include a 1.9 litre and a pair of 2.5 litres with either 128bhp or 172bhp.
The technology
Volkswagen Caravelle gadgets include front electric windows, heated mirrors and remote central locking as standard on SE trim level. You can choose to add air conditioning, cruise control and electric sliding doors from the options lists or step up to an Executive model, which includes them as part of the trim package.
Models within this range: CADDY MAXI LIFE, CALIFORNIA, CARAVELLE, EOS, FOX, GOLF, GOLF PLUS, PASSAT, PASSAT CC, PHAETON, POLO, SCIROCCO, TIGUAN, TOUAREG, TOURAN.
