Upgrade to a Volkswagen Eos and you'll get slick looks, a classy cabin and a clever folding roof with panoramic sunroof built-in.
Anyone in the market for a drop top should consider the Eos, it's an upmarket coupe cabriolet that makes a strong statement as a company car or a stylish addition to a family fleet.
The experience
The Eos ride quality is outstanding which, unlike many other convertibles, has no qualms about tackling uneven road surfaces. The suspension set up is supple and smooth, and even well damped Sport models sail over potholes and bumps. Getting in and out of the Eos is a more dignified proposition than its rivals, thanks to the gently sloping pillars, and the knock on effect is lots of headroom for passengers when the roof is in place. There's ample room for four passengers and enough room for two six footers in the rear seats without feeling cramped. The true genius of the Eos however is the in-built sunroof, which lends a light and airy atmosphere to the cabin - even in bad weather the drive is pure open-top exhilaration.
The performance
Some of Volkswagen's best engine offerings are to be found under the bonnet of the Eos. There are gutsy petrols in the shape of a 1.4 litre with 124bhp or 158bhp, a high performance 2.0 litre turbo and a 3.2 litre V6 powerhouse. For diesel buyers there's a speedy 2.0 litre turbo with a top speed of 128mph.
The technology
Every Volkswagen Eos model gets slick alloy wheels to match that smart sunroof along with air conditioning, all electric windows and a top-spec CD player.
