JANUARY
Google Driverless Cars Cruise in the UK
The UK welcomed the digital move of driverless cars from Google in January 2015 when testing rolled out in three cities. Google are looking likely to be the first company to get their cars on the road, but driverless developments from other car manufacturers were seen later in the year.
FEBRUARY
UK Car Market Experiences Longest Ever Period of Sustained Growth
Normally one of the quietest months of the year, ahead of a number plate change in March - February saw the market grow by 12% year-on-year.
MARCH
Lookers Annual Guild Awards in Barcelona
To celebrate the success Lookers held their annual Guild Awards on Sunday 21st March at the beautiful Hotel Arts in the heart of Barcelona, which was sponsored by Auto Trader and saw the best-performing staff from the last 12 months recognised for their excellent work. This year’s awards will be celebrated in sunny (we hope) Palma, Majorca.
MAY
Lookers Supercar Event Gets Off To A Roaring Start
The inaugural Lookers Supercar event in aid of the Prince's Trust, was hailed a “roaring success" by the media and participants alike. Held over two days in May at the legendary Croft Racing Circuit in Darlington, the fundraiser was organised in memory of John Wall who was a well-known business person from the North East
Lookers Staff Climb To The Top… Of Ben Nevis
Earlier this year, a team of five Lookers staff decided to do something more than challenging to raise money for the group's chosen charity. Chris Worth, Darryl Jones, Paul Bentley, Jon Sadler and Gary Lancaster managed to raise a whopping £11,000 for British Heart Foundation.
JUNE
Chris Evans announced as new Top Gear host
BBC Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans was confirmed to take the reigns as lead presenter of the extremely popular show. So, we compiled Five Ginger Cars to get you into Top Gear
JULY
Lookers reports seventh successive year
Andy Bruce Lookers Chief Executive unveils an “outstanding set of results for the first 6 months of this year" and credits this success to the “strength of the team". Record breaking results were announced in July with revenue up 9% on 2014 to £1.75 billion and profit before tax increasing by 6% to £39.9 million.
Hamilton Audi is the Latest Lookers Dealership to Go Green
Lookers opened their first ever Audi Approved Used Showroom in Hamilton in July and the new state-of-the-art premises does more than just sell cars. Thanks to Belfast based engineering company BS Holdings, Hamilton Audi is the first Lookers dealership in Scotland to have installed a biomass heating & cooling system. Along with the environmentally friendly heating system they have also taken other measures to become as eco-friendly as possible.
SEPTEMBER
Lookers grows portfolio with addition of 30 dealerships in the North East of the UK.
Our biggest highlight of 2015 has to be the new additions to the Lookers family. In just one week in September, the Group purchased Amersham Jaguar and made the biggest acquisition in motor history with the addition 30 dealerships in the North East of the UK from Benfield Motor Group - one of the UK’s largest private motor retailing companies.
OCTOBER
Bond is back!
October was a good month for film buffs, especially if you were a car enthusiast. Mr Bond returned to the big screen with the latest film in the 007 franchise, SPECTRE. To celebrate the release we took a look at some of the past and newest Bond cars.
NOVEMBER
Mustang makes its way to the UK
After 50 years of production the American muscle car finally arrived in the UK for the first time. The iconic Ford Mustang saw nearly 2,000 orders been taken across the country in October and first deliveries were expected in November.
DECEMBER
Benfield and Lookers team up to support Prince’s Trust & Samsung Celebrate Success Awards
Benfield and Lookers have teamed up to show further support and commitment to the Prince’s Trust charity by sponsoring this year’s Rising Star category at the ‘Princes Trust Samsung Celebrate Success’ awards held at the Sage Gateshead.
The ceremony recognised young people who have overcome issues such as abuse, drug addiction, homelessness and depression.
