New Nissan Juke R Crossover car

26th January 2012

new Nissan Juke-RBack in September last year Nissan announced they are building the ultimate crossover car – The Nissan Juke-R, and it has now been taken on the road and tested for the first time.

The Juke-R is designed around the body of the popular Nissan Juke crossed with the mechanics and technology of one of the worlds fastest cars – The Nissan GT-R which uses a 485bhp 3.8 litre twin-turbo charged engine.

The engineers at RML who have worked with Nissan before on other projects had just 22 weeks to take the original concept idea of the car, and make it in to a reality, using the latest computer-aided design (CAD) to aid in the difficult task of fitting the internal mechanics of the GT-R under the body of a Nissan Juke. You can watch a 10 part video series on the development process of the car on Nissans official youtube channel.

Two versions of the car have been developed (left and right hand drive) that were made available to drive to certain members of the automotive press in Dubai this week, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with people praising the ease and feel of the drive. The new Nissan car uses a double clutch transmission, meaning you only need to use the gear selector to decide on ‘A’ for automatic gear shifts or ‘M’ if you want to manually shift using the wheel mounded paddle shifters, and away you go.

Unfortunately Lookers Nissan won’t be expecting to see the Juke R in any of our Nissan dealerships any time soon as there are no plans to make it available for sale to the public.
