New Peugeot 508 to challenge the Ford Mondeo

25th June 2014

Peugeot has announced that the all-new 508 will arrive in showrooms this September.

With a premium feel and enhanced technology, the 508 is expected to challenge the long-delayed new Ford Mondeo, bringing Peugeot firmly into the upmarket bracket of the large family car sector.

Clients will be able to select from saloon, estate and extended ride-height RXH editions of the 508 later this year. These models will offer a range of engines, including a reduced-emissions 1.6-litre 165bhp Stop & Start petrol edition emitting just 131g/km of CO2.

Peugeot will also be offering a 22.0-litre version of their flagship BlueHDi diesel engine in the 508, including one variation that produces 150bhp and just 105g/.km of CO2 and a more powerful 180bhp edition. In addition to these strong units the 508 range will also feature Peugeot's diesel hybrid engine, with emissions cut to an incredible 85g/km and combined fuel consumption of 85.6mpg.

Inside, the cabin trim has been given a more luxurious feel and features a central screen, alongside a head-up colour display. Additional options for the new 508 include a reversing camera and blind spot mirrors.
