Peugeot to bring the EXALT concept to Paris

5th September 2014

For the Paris Motor Show, which takes place in October 2014, Peugeot will display the EXALT concept car with a fresh new exterior design.

The prototype saloon follows on from the ONYX concept revealed in 2012. It forms part of a new focus on recycling and local material sourcing by the manufacturer.

A wider stance, stripped-back body and bare grey steel emphasise the futuristic nature and efficiency of the car. The bodywork has been hand-formed by a master panel beater, and the tailgate features an innovative new opening mechanism. In an unusual move, a HY-brid kick foldaway electric scooter is stored beneath the load floor.

For the interior design, a new Peugeot i-Cockpit generates an immersive drive environment. The compact leather-trimmed steering wheel is surrounded by a digital instrument panel, two folding touchscreens at the centre console and the 'Pure Blue' air purifying system. A clever 'Newspaper Wood' trim finish incorporates real recycled business newspapers, emphasising sustainability.

The EXALT will demonstrate a petrol-electric HYbrid4 power system, which generates 340bhp combined. It can automatically and instantly select from three tailored driving modes: petrol-only, all-electric and hybrid. The unit was developed by Peugeot Sport and couples with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

More on the Peugeot EXALT concept will be revealed when it appears at the Paris event.
