Details of the new Renault Twingo, which was originally unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, have been released.
There will be three versions of the new Twingo – the Expression, the Play and the Dynamique, and a choice of two rear-mounted engines, a new 1.0ltr 70hp three-cylinder normally aspirated engine and a Dynamique TCe90 with a 0.9ltr 90hp turbocharged unit. All engines exceed 60mpg in mixed use and 50mpg on the urban cycle.
Connecting with technology is important to Twingo drivers, so all models come equipped with the smart-phone operated R & GO system, which allows owners access to a wide variety of functions, including telephone connectivity, multimedia and trip computer. The Dynamique model adds DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity, voice control, TomTom navigation and 3D sound by Arkamys. The fact that the new Twingo is rear-engined means that there is more space on the interior – the car is 10cm shorter than its predecessor, but has 22cm more cabin space. Luggage space is 219 litres which is increased to an impressive 980 litres by folding the 50-50 split rear seats.
On the exterior, the new Twingo comes with body-coloured bumpers, door handles and exterior door mirror shells, a rear spoiler and LED daytime running lights. Comfort and convenience are provided with electric power steering, electric front windows, remote central locking, a speed limiter, a height-adjustable steering wheel, a trip computer and gearchange indicator, a lane-change function for the indicators and the automatic activation of the rear screen wiper when reverse gear is selected.
The all-new city car also offers a large number of personalisation options for owners, with interior styling packs (each of which offer a number of added features which are cheaper than buying the features individually), a choice of alloy wheels and side decals.
