Renault’s Captur takes a Tow Car award

16th June 2014

The Renault Captur has triumphed at the 2014 Tow Car Awards by winning in its category against a record number of shortlisted vehicles.
In total, 56 cars have been evaluated this year – the most since the awards began in 2007. The Captur contested the ‘Best Ultralight Tow Car’ award in its Dynamique MediaNav version, scooping the prize by standing out in a number of ways.
Judges from What Car?, the Practical Caravan Club and the Camping and Caravanning Club praised the Captur for its generous braked towing weight limit of 900kg and stability at speed. All models are tested on their ability to pull either an 800kg trailer or a caravan at 85 percent of the car’s kerb weight.
The Captur is the first compact crossover from Renault, and combines genuine driving enjoyment with the space and practicality that families need. Under the panel’s tough tests it claimed a confident acceleration time from 30-60mph and a stopping distance from 30mph of less than ten metres.
This win at the Tow Car Awards adds to a number of prizes that the Captur has already won this year. It was named ‘Best SME Compact Company Car’ in January, and took the ‘Best Small SUV under £16,000’ award from What Car? in the same month.
