Range
No two drivers’ needs and requirements are the same, so SEAT has launched several versions of its famous Ibiza. The SEAT Ibiza range features a sports coupe, the Seat Ibiza SC, the SEAT Ibiza ST and the SEAT Ibiza. All of these can also be purchased as Ecomotive models, SEAT’s eco-friendly range.
SEAT’s Ecomotive engineering saves on fuel consumption without reducing performance.
Performance
Modern day car owners desire performance with reduced fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions. SEAT has succeeded in achieving this by improving the aerodynamics of its Ibizas and by fitting them with low rolling resistance tyres.
Helping to improve the energy efficiency of the SEAT Ibiza are the Stop and Start and Brake Energy Recovery systems. Once the car is topped and put in neutral gear, the engine automatically switches itself off. Once the clutch is re-engaged, the engine switches back on. The Brake Engine Recovery System also saves on fuel when braking. Both of these systems cut down on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The Ibiza five-door averages 47.9 mpg, 35.3 of that is urban and 60.1 is non-urban. For the SC, that figure is 44.1 mpg and for the ST, it is 47.9.
Technology
The SEAT Ibiza is replete with technology. Set in the dashboard is the Board Computer, which gives the driver essential information at the touch of a button. There is further assistance to the driver with Speed Sensitive Assisted Power Steering.
Available in selected models is the Coming Home Function, where the headlights remain on for 30 seconds after the driver has dismounted from the car.
An option for Ibiza owners is AFS, Adaptive Front Lighting System, where the Bi-Xenon headlights assist the driver when cornering.
Engines
Depending on the version of the SEAT Ibiza, there is wide range of both petrol and diesel engines. The range of diesel engines also includes the eco-friendly Ecomotive variety.
For the SEAT Ibiza five-door, there are four types of petrol engine, with the TSI 105PS DSG topping the range. All these engines underline SEAT’s green credentials with none of them exceeding 150g of CO2 per km.
There are also four types of diesel engine available for this model. The 1.2 CR 75PS Ecomotive is especially kind to the environment, emitting only 92g of CO2 per km.
Safety
SEAT places a high premium on safety with the Ibiza and this is demonstrated by the models’ safety features. These include EBA, Electronic Brake Assist and ABS, an anti-lock system that avoids skidding.
