Versions

The SEAT Leon offers plenty of choice with eight versions being produced. These are the Leon S, S Copa, SE Copa, Ecomotive, F and FR+ and Supercopa. 

The SEAT Leon Ecomotive is available for those who want to own an eco-friendly car without compromising on performance. There are Ecomotive versions of Leon S and the Leon S Copa.

SEAT’s designers and engineers have worked hard to ensure the Ecomotive is easy on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The vehicle’s aerodynamics were improved with low resistance tyres and a Diesel Particulate Filter helped improve fuel efficiency.

Engines 

The wide choice of SEAT Leons offer a variety of engines, both diesel and petrol. There are five diesel engines available, from the 106 TDI CR 105PS Ecomotive to the 2.0 TDI CR 170 PS DSG. ‘CR’ means ‘Common rail’. This is the, technology that has given the Leon’s diesel engine increased power while saving on fuel and cutting down on CO2 emissions.

There are six versions of petrol engines powering the Leon range, from the 1.84 85PS to the top of the range 2.0 TSI 265PS. Performance in these engines has been improved with new crankshaft bearings.

The performance of the SEAT Leon depends on several factors. These include the model, the type of engine (petrol or diesel), and the place the car is being driven, such as urban or extra-urban.

The combined (urban and extra-urban) petrol consumption figure for the Leon S is 44.8 mpg and the combined CO2 emissions 147g per kg. For diesel, the figures are 67.3 mpg and 109g/kg respectively.

Higher up the range, the Leon SE Copa TSI 105PS petrol engine has a combined fuel consumption of 52.3 MPG and CO2 emission of 124g/km. The diesel TDI CR 105PS’s combined fuel consumption is an impressive 67.3 with 109g/km emissions.

Equipment

Equipment varies across the SEAT Leon range. The Leon S Copa sports 16-inch Elio alloy wheels, while the FR has 17-inch Albea Alloy wheels. The FR also has rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers and an auto-dimming rear view mirror. 

Optional extras for the top of the range Leon Cupra R include the ‘Winter Pack’. This offers the owner added benefits such as heated front seats and a headlight washer system. 

Safety

Safety features throughout the SEAT Leon range differ between model levels. However, all include EBA, Electronic Brake Assist, and the ABS an anti-brake locking system that stops the vehicle going into a skid.
