What are Cambelts?

A Cambelt is a rubber belt, that links rotating parts of your vehicles engine and keeps them synchronised whilst rotating. It is an essential part of any engine and can rotate at speeds of up to 8000 RPM.

As a Cambelt ages within the engine, it will be subject to the heat of the engine along with varying weather conditions. These stresses on the Cambelt can lead to it stretching and cracking. If a Cambelt becomes too worn, it can break and cause catastrophic damage to the engine.

Along with the danger and inconvenience of a breakdown, it can also cost thousands of pounds to replace the engine of your vehicle, should a Cambelt break.Because of this risk, it is essential that Cambelts are checked on a regular basis, and replaced when necessary, usually every few services.
