A camouflaged version of Vauxhall's new Astra model has been spotted during testing at Germany's Nürburgring.
Vauxhall aims to promote the exterior quality of the Astra, and the model will also benefit from new powertrains. It is expected that the new Astra will have a similar style to Vauxhall's Monza concept, which was unveiled during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Several variations of the new car will be available. Vauxhall is producing a five-door hatchback, a three-door coupé, and a long-wheelbase estate to broaden the Astra range. Development has also been focused on reducing weight, so it is likely that this advantage will also be a feature of the finished range.
Vauxhall is currently working on three new engine families, which will include 13 petrol and diesel engines for motorists to choose from by the time the Astra goes on sale. The vehicle will feature a six-speed manual gearbox, and Vauxhall states that it will boast improved shifting and short lever action.
Vauxhall is projecting sales of at least 250,000 units within Europe, and will be relying both on the car's new sophisticated design and upgraded performance to provide appeal to customers.
