A Glasgow ice hockey team has been given a boost after a local Volkswagen van centre decided to sponsor them for the next season.
Lookers Glasgow Van Centre (Darnley) decided to sponsor Braehead Clan as the sport draws great crowds in the city.
Stephen Whitelaw, Head of Business at Glasgow Van Centre (Darnley) based in Kennishead Road, said they were delighted to be supporting a team that regularly pulls in crowds of 4,000 plus.
He added: “We are thrilled to be sponsoring Breahead Clan. It is the first time we have agreed such a partnership and we are really looking forward to the season.
“Ice hockey is one of the most spectacular sports in Glasgow, and pulls in enormous crowds, and we are proud to be supporting such a great up-and-coming sport.”
Volkswagen Van Centre Glasgow Darnely, is part of the Lookers group (which includes Taggarts) which is a modern motor retailer that operates from over 160 franchise dealerships, representing 31 vehicle manufacturers and delivering over 200,000 vehicles a year to customers across the UK and Ireland.
Stephen added: “Sports sponsorship has always featured strongly within the group, and we are excited to be a part of it.”
Andy McLaughlin, spokesman for Braehead Clan, said: “We were delighted to be able to work with Volkswagen Van Centre Glasgow Darnley. We always appreciate having support from local businesses as they really get behind the club and everything we are trying to achieve.
