Available in Sport and Exclusive versions, this two-door, four-seater sports car offers alloy wheels and plenty of luxurious features. The VW Eos Sport has a rain sensor, sports suspension, and a multi-device interface, whilst the Exclusive boasts air conditioning, a two tone leather interior, and heated front seats.
Choose between a petrol 2 litre engine or a diesel 2 litre with VW's BlueMotion technology which offers superb fuel economy. Both options come with a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes, whilst the turbo-charged 1.4 petrol engine comes as a manual only. The BlueMotion engine has an impressive combined fuel consumption of 53.3 mpg and 125 g/km of CO2.
The sturdy construction of the VW Eos means that it doesn't suffer from the body shake that is usually associated with a cabriolet. Wind noise is low, and there is minimal buffeting with the top down. Responsive steering, excellent grip, and good weight distribution make for a fun yet safe and reliable driving experience.
The cabin design offers lots of headroom for the taller driver, and feels very spacious all round. One of the big attractions is the amount of legroom in the back – an unusual feature in this type of sporty drop top. The interior styling is upmarket and slick, with chrome trims and a crafted feel. All models come with air conditioning, rear parking sensors, and electric windows as standard.
The VW Eos has a chunky yet streamlined shape and comes in a choice of standard black, white, or red finishes, with a wide choice of metallic options as extras. The top spec versions really ramp up the style quota with large alloy wheels, darkened rear lights, and automatic headlights.
Plenty of safety features give drivers peace of mind and add to the desirability of the VW Eos. If the car rolls when the roof is down, rear roll bars pop up within 0.25 seconds to protect passengers.
Front, side, and curtain airbags, an electronic stability programme, and ABS brakes are all standard features. The Eos was awarded four stars in NCAP crash tests.
The stylish CSC roof system is standard on all models and has a built-in glass roof panel, so the driver doesn't have to bring the whole roof down to get some overhead daylight. The roof folds down into the boot of the car, which means that there isn't room for huge amounts of luggage.
