Where do you work?
I work at Lookers Volkswagen in Guildford.
What was your favourite part of your training?
I found the final year of the three-year course most enjoyable. The knowledge I gained on the advanced courses really helped me in the workplace.
Doing well on these courses really helps you complete your service technician assessment at the end of the course.
What are the next steps in your career?
I completed the apprenticeship programme in November 2015 and was fast tracked onto the qualified technician course, which I passed in November 2016. I have also completed my Volkswagen engines specialist and air conditioning specialist courses. I aim to be on the master technician programme later on this year, and I also want to complete the high voltage training.
What advice would you give current apprentices?
Make the most of the programme and your time on it. Learn as much as you can by getting as much from the technicians at your workplace and the trainers at the National Learning Centre.
My apprenticeship worked for me because...
I was keen and interested in the brand and willing to learn as much as I could from everyone around me. This has given me the opportunity to further my career with Volkswagen.
