The new Volkswagen Polo, which is scheduled for first deliveries in July of this year, will be providing much more efficient engines along with technological advancements in safety, comfort and practicality. Prices are starting at £11,100 for the 1.0-litre petrol S model and rise to £19,715 for an automatic BlueGT featuring a 1.4-litre petrol engine.
Features of the all new Polo will include new EU6-compliant engines which offer considerable fuel efficiency improvements. The petrol options consist of two three-cylinder 1.0-litre MPI units with 60 or 75 PS; two 1.2-litre four-cylinder TSI engines with 90 or 110 PS and a 1.4-litre TSI engine with cylinder deactivation, along with power increased to 150 PS. For the diesel options there are two new three-cylinder 1.4-litre TDI engines, with 75 and 90 PS respectively.
Along with the electronic stability control, all of the new Polo's will be equipped with an Automatic Post-Collision Braking system which brakes the car after any collision to reduce the kinetic energy, therefore minimising the chances of a second impact. Furthermore, there will be optional safety features such as a Driver Alert Sytem and Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist and City Emergency Braking.
Another optional extra that will be available from SE trim and above is MirrorLink. This allows you to display and control certain Android smart phone apps on the infotainment screen. Apps that will be available include internet radio, news services and many more. Infotainment, Volkswagen's touchscreen system, includes a proximity sensor and a function that reacts to wiping movements by the fingers.
There are to be six trim levels available, with the returning S, SEL and BlueGT joined by three new lines. A new Polo BlueMotion TSI which is to be the first pertrol BlueMotion model in Volkswagen's line up will become available towards the end of this year, along with the Polo GTI.
