New Volvo XC60 Concept Car

4th January 2012

New Volvo XC60 hybrid concept car

Volvo are going to unveil a new four wheel petrol plug-in hybrid concept car at the 2012 North American Motor Show which takes place in Detroit between the 9th and 22nd January.

The new Volvo concept car will be called the XC60 and will give the driver a choice of three different driving mode options, Power, Hybrid or Pure.

Power Mode allows the driver to utilise the engines full capabilities, combining both the Petrol engine and electric motor. In this mode the car can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds.

In Pure mode the car operates solely by the electric motor with a range of around 35miles, and in Hybrid mode the petrol engine is assisted by the electric motor to create maximum driving pleasure whilst emitting minimal CO2 in to the environment.

The Volvo XC60 will feature Volvos new four cylinder engine technology and Senior Vice President of Research & Development at Volvo, Peter Mertens claims  “In the XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Concept we demonstrate that our forthcoming four-cylinder engines offer the same high performance as today's sixes. At the same time, their fuel consumption will be lower than in current four-cylinder engines”,

The electric battery can be recharged at any regular power outlet. Charging time varies depending on the current. If you charge with a 110v/12a current it can take seven and a half hours to charge but it will only take three and a half hours with 220v/12a.

Lookers Volvo will bring you more on the new Volvo XC60 as and when we get it.
