The new Audi A6 Saloon has been revealed and it brings a new level of design, comfort, sportiness and technology to its class.
The exterior design is based on the new Audi A7 and A8 with taut surfaces, sharp edges and striking lines that convey a character of sport elegance, high tech and sophistication.
The new model is 7mm longer, 12mm wider and 2mm higher than its predecessor and features balanced proportions with a long bonnet, long wheelbase and short overhangs. The sportiness of the model is enhanced by a wide, low-slung Singleframe grille, flat headlights and powerfully contoured air inlets.
There will be a choice of 14 colours for the new Audi a6, including 7 new colours.
The new Audi A6 boasts a larger interior than the outgoing model giving it superior legroom, headroom and shoulder room. The luggage compartment capacity remains unchanged at 530 litres, however the dimensions have changed so that two golf bags can be accommodated horizontally.
The interior design has a modern, sporty finish with a sleek instrument panel and a centre console that is directed at the driver. The top MMI touch response display is also tilted slightly towards the driver to ensure that everything is in reach and, with a black-panel look, it almost disappears into an aluminium clip when switched off.
The Audi A6 has two large, high-resolutions MMI touch displays which replace the previous rotary push button and conventional controls. The driver has the ability to control the infotainment system from the upper display, while the lower screen is used for climate control, comfort functions and text input. For the first time, Audi Virtual Cockpit will be available on the Audi A6.
This model offers the same infotainment and connectivity options as the A7 and A8. Up to seven drivers can store their preferred settings in user profiles and online services from Audi connect have been expanded to include features such as the traffic sign and hazard information Car-to-X services.
There will be a choice of three sound systems, including the top of the range Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System that delivers 3D sound to the rear seats.
Noticeably sportier than the outgoing model, the A6 features four innovative suspension setups and dynamic all-wheel steering.
Dynamic all-wheel steering is the perfect combination of direct, sporty steering response with stability that gives the driver an agile and comfortable drive. The optional sport differential improves handling by distributing drive torque between the rear wheels, complementing quattro all-wheel drive.
All engines come with a new mild hybrid system (MHEV) as standard. This system uses a 48-volt primary electrical system for the V6 engines and, at speeds between 34.2 and 99.4mph, the A6 can coast in freewheeling mode.
