What’s so good about the Festival of Speed?

UK gears up for the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed, which is now in its 13th year, and we take a look at the big showstoppers to take the stage.

If you don't know what makes the Goodwood Festival of Speed the largest car culture event in the world, you need to stop what you're doing and take a look at our summary of the spectacular supercars and SUVs to take to British roads for the first time at this annual celebration of all things motor-related.

Here's a preview of the UK debuts to be unleashed over the weekend...

Jaguar

Visitors to the festival will be amongst the first to witness the 200mph Jaguar supercar as it makes its debut at Goodwood’s iconic hillclimb event.

We don’t know about you, but watching the Jaguar F-TYPE SVR sprint from 0 to 60mph in just 3.5 seconds pretty much puts in the lead for us.

Nissan

Nicknamed ‘Godzilla’ the exhilarating all-new 2017 GT-R will make its British debut as it howls its way up the hillclimb course. The Japanese manufacturer unveiled the powerful 3.8 litre, V6 twin-powered GT-R supercar for the first time at the New York Auto Show in January.

If watching it in action doesn’t get your engine revving, also showcasing at the Nissan stand will be the new GT-R’s bigger and better brother, the GT-R NISMO, which features a full 592bhp compared to ‘Godzilla’s 562bhp.

Maserati

Cast your eyes on Maserati’s first ever SUV – the Levante – making its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Moving Motor Show weekend. Joining the others in the famous 1.16 mile hillclimb, spectators get the chance to witness the ‘First Glance’ Class in all its glory.

Although the Levante is most likely to steal the limelight at the Maserati stand, the luxury brand will also feature the flagship Quattroporte for a closer look at the Moving Motor Show. On top of that, the impressive Ghibli will be available to experience unique passenger rides on Thursday.

Aston Martin

Come in DB11, we’ve been expecting you. We first caught a glimpse of the DB11 at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, but what makes its dynamic debut so impressive is that it will be the first time the supercar will be seen running, anywhere in the world.

But that’s not just it from the British sportscar manufacturer, visitors will also be able to witness the Vantage GT8 in action. The lightest and most powerful V8-powered ever built will run for the first time in public on UK soil.

Also making a return to the Festival of Speed will be the Aston Martin Vulcan, which made its world debut at the same event the previous year.

The Moving Motor Show will also allow visitors a thrilling once-in-a-lifetime experience of driving the Aston Martin S model, V12 Vantage S Coupe and the Vanquish Volante.

Bentley

If we thought we were spoilt with Aston Martin’s double debut, Bentley just blew them out of the park with a trio of UK debuts!

The luxurious line-up includes the powerful Continental GT Speed, Bentayga SUV and Flying Spur V8 S – all being showcased the British public for the first time.

We don’t know what we’re most excited about the GT Speed – the fastest-ever Bentley produced handcrafted to bespoke perfection, the Bentayga – the British car manufacturer’s first ever SUV or the Flying Spur V8 S – the most refined V8 performance sedan in the world.

Bravo Bentley, Bravo.

Audi

Bentley announced its trio and it's as if Audi thought 'We can do better than that - we'll give the public triple that!'

That's right, Audi will present NINE car debuts to the UK public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The glittering line-up includes the 540PS R8 Spyder, the Q2 compact SUV, the Q7 e-tron plug-in hybrid, the stunning S5 Coupe, the ground-breaking SQ7 TDI, the powerful 400PS, sub-five-second TT RS Coupe, the 900Nm SQ7 and the all-new A4 allroad quattro.

Wow.

Labelled as the world’s largest automotive garden party as its set against the picturesque backdrop of Goodwood House in Sussex over three days from Thursday 23rd June to Sunday 26th June. For more information on the event or to purchase tickets, please check the Goodwood website.
