Team Rickshaw dropped into Lookers Mercedes-Benz Stoke this week on their 500 mile route through the UK, all in aid of BBC Children in Need.
Team Rickshaw, which is made up of six young people supported by BBC Children in Need funded projects, are taking on The OneShow’s Rickshaw Challenge and travelling 500 miles from London to Glasgow over nine days. To assist the team on their journey, Lookers are providing a fleet of support vehicles, offering storage for important kit and equipment as well as transport for the support teams along the way.
Day four of their journey saw Team Rickshaw visit Lookers Mercedes-Benz Stoke for some well needed refreshments. No doubt feeling tired from their challenging ride up the west coast of the UK, braving the cold weather and multiple terrains, the riders enjoyed a hot drink and a rest at Mercedes-Benz Stoke, as well as some food to fuel them for their onward journey.
Travelling over 60 miles per day, it’s not an easy route but the camaraderie of the team and the knowledge they are raising money for such a wonderful charity, one that has directly helped them, keeps them going.
After navigating country lanes and winding muddy roads, the support cars needed a good clean and the staff at Mercedes-Benz Stoke were all too keen to help out.
Greg Bethell, General Manager at Mercedes-Benz Stoke said: “It’s been a pleasure having Team Rickshaw come to visit us on their route. It’s great to meet young people that have been helped by BBC Children in Need and to see them take part in the challenge to raise money for this fantastic charity. They have inspired us to take part in our own Rickshaw (or maybe cycle) challenge in our dealership. Watch this space!”
This year’s Rickshaw Challenge started last Thursday at the BBC studios in London, where the riders set off ready to brave the elements and raise money for BBC Children in Need. The team are aiming to arrive in Glasgow during the 2017 Appeal Show this Friday 17th November.
