Kia reveals more on incoming Sorento SUV

8th September 2014

Kia has released further details on its incoming new Sorento SUV, and has claimed that it is now quieter, more refined and stronger than ever.

The engine line-up has been a particular focus for the manufacturer, and five units will be available to UK buyers. They include a powerful 2.2-litre turbodiesel which has been designed with quiet performance in mind. A new cover has been engineered for the diesel particulate filter and timing chain to cut out unwanted noise, while the dashboard is said to be 29 percent thicker than before. With these updates, Kia states that the cabin is between three and six percent quieter than the outgoing Sorento.

The chassis itself will be constructed from twice as much high-strength steel than before, making it 14 percent more rigid. The SUV will therefore have a quieter and smoother ride on the road, and will also boast significantly improved safety. Added kit including lane departure and blind spot warning systems plus speed limit recognition contribute in this area.

Inside, the flagship seven-seater model won’t lose any of its luxury, and the interior dimensions will grow to give occupants even more space. The arriving vehicle will be 9.5cm longer, and its wheelbase also grows by 8cm.

Kia has chosen to reveal these new details prior to the car’s appearance at the Paris Motor Show in October, and order books will open for eager motorists in the UK in early 2015. For your own, contact Lookers Kia in Newcastle or Stockport and register your interest with our team.
