Lookers kicks off new season of rugby sponsorship at Newcastle Thunder

Lookers Dacia Newcastle is helping to create the next generation of professional rugby players after extending its sponsorship of Newcastle Thunder.

The retailer, which is the city’s main dealer for the Dacia brand, has renewed its partnership with the rugby league side and will continue to feature on their home and away shirts.

The partnership will also extend to this year’s Newcastle Dacia Cup, which the retailer first supported last year and which sees over 200 youngsters, from Under 8s through to Under 16s, play a series of festival and cup games.

The event, which takes place over the Easter Bank Holiday at Kingston Park Stadium, follows a recent half term training camp for 6-16 year olds at the stadium, which allowed youngsters to train with Newcastle Thunder Community coaches. Participants were also given a Newcastle Thunder coaching camp t-shirt as a memento of their day, and a match ticket for a Newcastle Thunder match in the 2018 season.

Lookers Dacia Newcastle will also be supporting The Dacia Magic Weekend once again this year, which is one of the North East’s biggest sporting events and will see 14 professional rugby league clubs compete at St. James Park between 19-20 May.

Supporting Newcastle Thunder and their grassroots initiatives forms a key part of Lookers’ community sponsorship programme. This includes sponsoring youth football team Newcastle Benfield Olympico, with nearby Lookers Renault providing their strips.
