Are you ready for the rebirth of the Range Rover?

Land Rover Classic will debut a factory-restored 1978 three-door Range Rover Classic to launch its Reborn programme.

That’s right, the guys from Jaguar Land Rover, have been rummaging in their old garage again to see what needs to make its comeback to the world and have something very thrilling to share with us all.

While, millions of people in the world might be bouncing with joy over Beyonce’s announcement today, all the petrolheads and classic car enthusiasts will be more fuelled with excitement after this news from Land Rover.

Making its world debut at Salon Retromobile in Paris next week, the much desired Land Rover Classic will take centre stage as part of the Range Rover Reborn programme launch. Not just one, but ten examples of the luxury SUV will be fully restored to the original 1970s factory specification.

1978 Classic Range Rover Specifications:

  • Colour: Bahama Gold
  • Engine: 3528cc V8 Petrol Carburettor Zenith-Stromberg 175CD type
  • 4-speed manual transmission, lockable central differential
  • max. power 132bhp at 5000rpm
  • max torque: 186 lb ft (251 Nm) at 2500 rpm

The Reborn Programme will offer prospective customers a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase an original and much sought after Range Rover direct from Land Rover Classic in the UK.

You might remember the Jaguar XKSS which recently finished production of nine very exclusive ‘New Original’ models. Well, this will also make its European debut at the show giving the public a close up view of the brand’s engineering blueprint.

As well as this, Jaguar Land Rover Classic will unveil its first fully factory-restored 1962 E-type Fixed Head Coupe, which was built in-house to ensure best fit and finish, and with its original 3.8-litre engine and transmission.

Going back to the classic Range Rover, once completed, the fully restored models will fetch from £135,000. Land Rover’s experienced restoration team will be able to advise the lucky customers of the best options for base vehicles – in terms of collectability, preferred chassis numbers and unique characteristics.

 Known to have launched the SUV sector in 1970, the Range Rover set a precedent for 4x4 vehicles and is still remains a desired choice of vehicle for the elite from the Royal family to celebrities across the world.
