LA Auto Show 2016

Well-known for its glitz and glamour, this week Los Angeles adds some gear and gas to bring all the shiny new metal to the Convention Centre as it hosts the annual LA Auto Show. Here, we take a look at the top 5 wheels to watch out for.

Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet

The luxury brand debuts its first convertible, the Mercedes-Mybach S 650 Cabriolet and it exemplifies exclusiveness to a tee. Before signing up to the waiting list in spring 2017, you must know that only 300 examples are being made available worldwide, with just 75 in the US. If the stunning looks, unique features, nine additional colour concepts for the interior with hand-finished craftsmanship of the leather interior isn’t enough to lure you in maybe its 6.0 litre V12 engine with an output of 630 hp will.

Jaguar I-Pace

It made its official debut yesterday, Tuesday 15 November, and it’s already received quite a lot of interest for its electrifying nature. The first fully-electric SUV from Jaguar has been launched as a concept car but its entry in to the market has been confirmed for 2018. Powered by two electric motors, one single charge will take the I-Pace up to 310 miles with a combined output of 295bhp.​ Read more about the I-Pace here

MINI Countryman​

A hybrid debut for the MINI brand, the bigger and plusher Countryman will be on show for the first time in LA. Expected to hit the UK market in February 2017, the Countryman will sit closely next to the Audi Q2 and Nissan Qashqai in the premium small SUV market. Read more about the MINI Countryman here.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio

Another first from a manufacturer; for Alfa Romeo it’s in the very competitive SUV market with the Stelvio. Said to be a taller, more practical Giulia, it’s considered to be a premium alternative to cars like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 and plans to have more fuel efficient options and plug-in hybrid.

Jeep Compass

We got a sneak peek of Jeep's new Compass in September, but the LA Auto Show will give us the chance to explore further and in the metal. It will arrive in the UK next year and will in the market close to Nissan Qashqai and Volkswagen Tiguan. It will be available worldwide and with 17 various power options for the car, there are many reasons to consider a Compass.
